Here we share our guides around the theme of translation, and also completed works that are publicly available.
HSBC Global Private Banking - Financial reports
These projects for HSBC Global Private Banking involve translation, typesetting, and updating data charts. We work on various reports, from monthly, quarterly, to annual reports, all needing to follow strict brand guidelines.
HKRSA - Research report on retirement
The Hong Kong Retirement Scheme Association (HKRSA) is an organization dedicated to promoting better retirement outcomes through empowerment, advocacy and sharing. This publication involved the template design, translation, and typesetting to both Traditional Chinese and English languages.
Rowenta - User's guide
This user’s guide from Rowenta is what we describe as a “smart manual“. Upon receiving a detailed story-board from the client, our designers illustrate how to use and maintain the products. It is highly visual which means that the design and drawing element of the agency has to be very strong. Only the essential text is translated, in this example for 30 languages.
Norauto - User's guide
Once again our expertise shines for this baby car seat manual. After receiving the baby seat in our office, we drew all the pictures from the product breakdown to the illustrations on how to use the product safely. We also translated and typeset to 7 languages in total.
Techtronic Industries TTI - Corporate reports
Translating corporate reports is another of our strengths. We have helped translate various official reports and communications for Techtronic Industries Co Ltd (HKG: 0669) from EN to TCN, including sustainability reports, interim reports, ESG reports, and annual reports.
M+ Museum
M+ is Hong Kong’s museum for contemporary visual culture. We translate numerous exhibit and cinema descriptions for the EN/TCN language pair.
IPCC - Research report
For the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), being interested about this topic and sustainability, DataSource translated and typeset the decision-maker’s summary of their originally 3900-page research report into French.
Translation Tips & Tricks
A common misconception around translation is that it’s low maintenance – after all if an agency is supposed to be the expert on languages, they can tackle anything given to them, right? Well, in a sense yes, but generally even if a translation is judged as accurate, it still may not meet your standards without certain guidelines at the outset.
Comments such as “The terminology is wrong.”, “It reads too much like Google Translate.”, or “Why did you leave a part out in the translation?”, if you have at any point asked such questions during your translation process, this guide detailing our Top 11 Translation Tips & Tricks may be for you.
